Dental Implants

Tooth loss compromises the health, comfort, and function of your smile, and it can also make you feel self-conscious about your appearance.

Dr. Amy Creech-Gionis offers state-of-the-art dental implant treatment to restore missing teeth and improve your oral health.

Why do patients of our Carrollwood and Westchase, FL, practice love their dental implants?

What Are Dental Implants?

Traditionally, tooth replacement options consisted of removable dentures, partial dentures, or bridges. However, in the past 30 years, dental implants have risen in popularity, becoming the ideal form of restorative dentistry. With unmatched stability, convenience, and longevity, implants are the next best option after natural teeth.
Titanium posts fuse to the jawbone and securely anchor crowns, bridges, or dentures.

Tampa Dental Wellness Offers Top-of-the-Line Restorative Dentistry Why Settle for Less?

While most dentists refer their implant patients to outside specialists, Dr. Creech-Gionis is a specialist herself. Having undergone additional training in implantology and I.V. sedation, she is able to perform every step of your treatment, ensuring your results are up to our high standards.

Don't settle for anything less than expert care. Schedule a consultation with Tampa Dental Wellness at one of our conveniently located offices in Westchase or Carrollwood, FL. You can request an appointment online or simply give us a call at:

More Reasons to Choose Dental Implants

Improve Your Oral Health

A missing tooth can disrupt the positions of adjacent teeth, upsetting your alignment, destabilizing your bite, and increasing your risk of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder. Implants can prevent these painful side effects.

Maintain a Youthful Appearance

Losing teeth can also permanently change your facial appearance. When tooth roots are no longer present, the jawbone begins to shrink, leading to hollowed cheeks, sunken lips, and wrinkles around the mouth. Because dental implants replace tooth roots, you will be able to retain your bone structure and a more youthful facial appearance.

Eat a Better Diet

Even the loss of one tooth can alter the way you bite and chew your food, potentially leading to changes in your diet. Because implants are fixed in the jawbone, you will be able to confidently chew all the fibrous, nutritious foods that pose a challenge with traditional dentures.

Experience Unbeatable Convenience

Traditional dentures and bridges are removable and require additional daily maintenance. With implants, you do not have to worry about cleaning your restorations after meals, soaking them overnight, or using messy dental adhesives. You simply care for implants like you would your natural teeth.

How Are Dental Implants Different?

Our teeth are composed of two parts: the visible crown, and the root that extends below the gum line. While traditional dentures and bridges restore the crowns, they do nothing to address missing tooth roots. On the other hand, implant treatment comprehensively replaces both parts of the tooth structure, improving the strength of your bite and providing natural-feeling function.

Dental Implant Timeline

Dental implants require a few different procedures over the course of several months. While the timeline may seem long compared to other restorative options, the life-long benefits are well worth the wait. Here is what you can expect during treatment at our Westchase and Carrollwood, FL, offices...

Consultation

Dr. Creech-Gionis will conduct a thorough oral exam to ensure your gums and jaw are strong enough for dental implants. We will take a series of diagnostic scans with our 3D scanning technology to assess your facial anatomy and plan your implant placement. Every patient can expect a custom-designed treatment plan that addresses their unique needs.

Prep Work

Some patients will require preparatory procedures like extractions, bone grafts, or sinus augmentations. You will need to heal from these procedures before receiving implants, which may take several months, depending on the treatment.

Implant Surgery

Dental implant surgery is an outpatient procedure that usually takes about one to two hours. Dr. Creech-Gionis will ensure your comfort by administering your desired form of sedation and anesthesia. Then, using a surgical guide that will be custom-designed for your mouth, she will carefully insert the titanium implants through your gums and into your jawbone. Our high-tech, guided surgical system ensures your implants are precisely placed in the optimal location.

Osseointegration

Over the next three to six months, your titanium posts will fuse with the jaw in a process known as "osseointegration." New tissue will grow around the implants, securing them to your bone and creating a secure base for your crown, bridge, or denture.

Abutments

Once osseointegration is complete, you will return to our office for another minor procedure. Our dentist will make an incision in the gum tissue above each implant in order to attach abutments. These small, screw-like pieces will act as the point of connection between your implant and your permanent restoration. You will need another few weeks for the gum tissue to heal after receiving the abutments.

Final Restoration

We will send impressions of your bite to our trusted dental lab where your crown, bridge, or denture will be crafted from the materials of your choice. When the finished product is ready (typically in two weeks or less), you will return to our office one more time for the placement of your restoration. Our dentist will examine the fit and overall appearance of your prosthetics, making sure you are satisfied before securing the restoration to your implants. You will leave our office with a complete, functional smile!
"There is not a more professional or friendly staff than those at this dental practice.  As a patient of more than a few years, I have had cleanings, fillings, a crown and more.  All problem-free!  Certainly cannot say that about other dentists before Dr. Creech-Gionis.  Thankful for finding them!" Understanding the Cost of Dental Implants

At Tampa Dental Wellness, the cost of dental implants can vary significantly from case to case. The cost of treatment will depend on a number of factors, including...

The Number of Implants

The cost of your treatment will depend heavily on the extent of your tooth loss. Replacing one missing tooth with a single implant and crown will cost much less than replacing all of your teeth with a full set of implant-supported dentures.

Preparatory Procedures

Some patients may require bone grafting to restore the density of the jaw prior to implant treatment. In other cases, sinus augmentation surgery may be needed before a patient can be eligible for dental implants. Preparatory work will increase the total cost of treatment.

Sedation

Sedation is recommended for implant procedures to make the visit easy and comfortable. The level of sedation or anesthesia you desire for your procedure will affect the overall cost of treatment. We offer all forms of sedation dentistry, including nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation, and intravenous (IV) sedation.

Invest in Yourself with Dental Implants

Not only are dental implants the most comfortable and natural-feeling form of tooth replacement, but they are also the most permanent. In most cases, implants last a lifetime, and the implant-supported prosthetics are good for well over a decade. Therefore, while dental implants cost more up-front than traditional dentures, the longevity of implants can make them the smarter financial investment.

But more importantly, implants are truly life-changing, simplifying your daily routine, increasing your self-confidence, and promoting a more enjoyable quality of life. Consider implants not only an investment in your oral health, but also an investment in yourself.
